Port strike expected to affect supply of pineapples, bananas, beans and asparagus.
RASPBERRIES AND BLACKBERRIES: There has been an ongoing industry wide shortage of over the last month on these items due to inclement weather including colder temperatures and rain. Shippers are now finding themselves on the front end of a planting gap out of Central Mexico and Baja. This gap is expected to last from four to five weeks for most shippers. Weather will dictate the exact length of the gap. Springtime plantings in California should provide some additional relief in late March or early April depending on weather.
· We are now in a demand exceeds supply market on both items.
· Shippers are applying heavy cuts and fill rates going into the weekend.
· Expect more similar fill rates over the next 4 weeks.
· Please enter your orders as early as possible to help ensure maximum coverage.
